All of the original artwork displayed at Rey's Restaurant is the work of Rhonda Meyers. Her colorful paintings capture the sites and sounds of The Big Easy and help lend the French Quarter Flare to Rey's.
I moved from New Orleans to Cary with my husband and son in 1988. After designing and building a small subdivision, I returned to the classroom to teach Architectural Drafting and Design. While helping my students develop portfolios needed to get into the School of Design, I realized I needed to learn Classical skills for drawing, photography, and painting. In 1996, I completed my degree in MultiMedia from the School of Communication Arts. In 1999, I started taking Classical Academic classes from Frank Covino. While learning to reproduce techniques and skills of the "Old Masters", I was able to develop my own style of Classical Art using math and science, with conteporary models, and subjects. Over the years, as I continue to receive guidance and training from Frank Covino's workshops, I have taught over 500 students to draw and paint realistic portraits. My Adult workshops have produced many professional artists by teaching art as a skill instead of a talent.
